Surprise Your Sweetie with this Valentine’s Day Table Setting
Valentine’s Day is just a few short weeks away and I’m excited to share my Valentine’s Day table setting with you. February 14 is considered by many people to be the most romantic holiday of the year, which means that most restaurants are packed to full capacity. Waiting in line for thirty or forty minutes (or more!) before you are seated at a table is never fun, especially on Valentine’s Day.
If you’re unable to secure a reservation at your favorite restaurant or you simply prefer celebrating with your significant other in a more private setting, transform your own home into a romantic dinner for two or with another couple.
Red and pink are the most popular Valentine’s colors, but using a black tablecloth adds the perfect amount of sophistication. Place settings that include plates decorated with hearts as well as Valentine’s themed accessories like candles add the perfect splash of red and pink. I chose clear candles with hearts inside, but there are many options available.
Use a potted orchid as your centerpiece for an elegant alternative to a vase of roses. (You may want to avoid scented candles, as they could overpower or interfere with the orchid’s natural fragrance.) There’s no need to purchase special drinking glasses. Decorate your existing stemware with pipe cleaners and paper butterflies or hearts, which can be removed easily before you take a sip.
Black napkins trimmed in silver match the tablecloth as well as the silverware. Pick your favorite napkin fold and incorporate a red rose if possible. The fold that I used in this Valentine’s Day table setting is called Two Lovers, but I am saving the step-by-step instructions for my second book! There are dozens of other appropriate folds to choose from on my You Tube channel. Here’s another version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feLOYEh8QGM&feature=youtu.be&a
Top your napkins with place cards and you are ready to go. Have fun celebrating, and Happy Valentine’s Day!
